Michael E. Colley 1205 Virginia Ave, Friona, TX 79035 (806) 690 - 8342 President Barack Obama 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC 20500 September 25, 2014 Dear President Obama: I understand that members of the House Judiciary Committee have written to you asking that you release the policy recommendations you have received regarding amnesty. I also hope you will prove you are committed to transparency and will release these recommendations. I agree completely with what the House Judiciary members wrote in their letter to you: Since you have postponed these executive actions until after the midterm elections, you will have ample time to consider the ideas put forth by Secretary Johnson and others before you make any decisions to fundamentally alter how our immigration laws are enforced, grant immigration benefits to millions of unlawful immigrants, or otherwise modify how our immigration laws are interpreted. You have made clear that you will take such actions without the passage of any legislation by Congress, and therefore without the input of the American publics representatives. Additionally, it has been widely reported that you and your Administration have been meeting with select interest groups regarding their demands for administrative action on immigration. As a result, the American people have been cut out of a process that could dramatically affect their lives. Immigration policy is decided by Congress. Your decision to circumvent their authority is an affront to the American people. As you have time and again promised to run a transparent and open White House, you have an obligation to release the amnesty policy recommendations that have been made to you. The White Houses official website says the following regarding transparency: My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. In the spring, you asked Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson to perform an inventory of the Department of Homeland Securitys current immigration enforcement practices to see how it can conduct enforcement more humanely within the confines of the law. Within the last week you indicated that you have begun to receive some of these recommendations. You also indicated that you would wait to issue any executive orders or otherwise take action on the recommendations until after the November elections. Phone me if you would like to talk about this, Your signature hidden for your protection Michael E. Colley P.S. Now that you have policy recommendations to decide from, you must release those to the American people. You promised to run the most transparent White House in history and you need to start living up to the promise. This letter was faxed to President Obama earlier thru NumbersUSA.
