Michael: Interesting point made here by Breger, and nice to see this criticism. The point is that treating mental illness as a wacky talent in fictional TV shows like Black Box and Perception doesnt convey to the general public the severe impact psychotic illnesses have. In turn, this is why people like Errol Chang and Kelly Thomas arent recognized as mentally ill. They are on the receiving end of the police instead of working for them (or the FBI, always a favorite of Hollywood hack writers).
