Michael McManus tagged me in 15 albums for the week 1. Sun Kil Moon- April. Before pitchfork jumped all over Benji this year, it turns out that Mark Kozelek had been making great music for decades. This one is the best, I got it the day Christopher Maguire and james kelly and I got pulled over in Asharoken, the worst town in Long Island. 2. Frog Eyes- Careys Cold Spring. I just saw this guy perform at one of his six US shows this year. It was incredible. 3. James Blake- Overgrown. Despite the single from this album being involved in HBOs shitty Leftovers program, this album is amazing and his live act is unreal. Michael McManus and Brian Anthony Abraham Donaldson listened to some of it on the way to the last Long Island show I went to last summer (the song was Voyeur) 4. Rice Cultivation Society-Leaves Again. I gotta plug this one. Its amazing, my uncle, Peter G. Byrne, loves it, and I know these guys. 5. Neil Young-On the Beach. McManus inspired me to throw a Neil Young album, and this album is perfect to listen to any time, place, or season. Matthew Rumore and I enjoyed it waking up hungover on a camping trip and Stereogums extensive Neil Young album ranking put it at number One. 6. Dr. Dog- Shame, Shame. I have to rep Philadelphia on this list, and I met my girlfriend Caity Rosser at a show on this tour. 7. The Antlers- Familiars. A strong contender for album of the year, their most consistent work yet. And for people afraid of depressing music, youll be fine with this one. 8. Bon Iver- For Emma, Forever Ago. This guy is my I saw him before he was big, playing a solo show opening for Elvis Perkins before this album was even out. 9. Spoon- Gimmie Fiction. Their new album, They Want My Soul, is amazing, and we just saw them live. This is the first album of theirs I heard and it is still the best. 10. The Futureheads-the Futureheads. The best Kate Bush cover of all time. 11. Kate Bush- Never for Ever, Its almost impossible to recommend just one of her albums. She is one of the best artists of all time, and this is the album I have been listening to the most lately. On a side note, I got up at 4am to get tickets to her London shows. I failed. 12. Liars- Mess. On this album Liars perfect the dance/electronic direction that they went off on on WIXIW. Perfect from start to finish. Bonus for titling a song Perpetual Villager. 13. Massive Attack- Mezzanine. The one-two punch of Mezzanine and Group FOur are the songs that get me over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which is the scariest bridge ever. 14. The Shins- Wincing the Night Away. Their best album. The Zackh Braff plugged albums are ok, the fourth one isnt a real Shins album, and this thing is perfect. 15. The Cornbugs- Whatever album dust and bones is on. I hope box of hair is on this album too. Dust and bones dust and bones rolling down the river rolling down the river.... https://youtube/watch?v=2k5u-A0-wlo I shall tag Alex Schneider and Will Forthman
