The Architect plays a key role in shaping their technology strategy by applying leadership across the platform organization and expertise in strategic analysis and technology architecture (IoT, cloud and mobile app development). The Software Architect must have a strong programming and software development background to join and lead our cloud and mobile app team. Leading and developing teams to produce proof of concepts that demonstrate how new technologies should be used. The Software Architect reports to the Director of the U.S. Development Center (USDC). This is a global role that requires travel to Japan, Singapore, India and Europe. Description Envision how emerging information technologies and industrial automation trends can be incorporated into the companys platform portfolio in order to provide value to our customers, meet business requirements and increase global competitiveness. Experience in a Cloud environment and mobile app development Plan, manage and implement projects that demonstrate the benefits of new technologies and act as accelerants for their adoption of product and technology groups. Reviewing code that subordinates have written to ensure it is works correctly and researching the most up-to-date techniques in software design. Communicating progress on software development to subordinates, clients, project managers, and business analysts; they must be able to discuss implementation in terms and conditions that the individual less familiar with software development can understand. Evangelize the adoption of new technologies and industrial automation trends into their products and customers operations. This includes presenting proof of concept demonstrations to internal colleagues and customers. Effectively and efficiently transfer knowledge to other development centers to allow them to act on the results of proof of concept projects. Recognized as a subject matter expert within the industrial automation industry in at least two areas of expertise. Serve as project manager and technical lead for development projects. Responsible for compliance with development policies and all facets of a projects success. Influence global product and business directions. Responsible for providing uncompromising quality to all work processes in designated areas of responsibility. Has the authority to stop those work processes at any time it is believed quality is being compromised. Profile Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Physics with strong emphasis in computer science or equivalent is required. Multiple or advanced degrees a plus. 10+ years of experience in software development is required. Previous leadership role in software development organizations and teams is required. Experience in delivering software applications for process industries is desired. Travel: 25% IT knowledge to design & architect engineering software for oil & gas industry processes Experience with Java/J2EE, HTML, JavaScript, XML schemas, and/or other programming languages and tools Web server technologies such as IIS, Apache and Jetty Knowledge of SQL Server or other RDBMS development Experience with UML, object modeling and data modeling Understanding of the software development life-cycles, including object oriented environments, Agile and Scrum models as well as rapid prototyping.
