Mike French of Mount Pleasant, Texas passed away Friday July 25, 2014 in Mount Vernon, Texas. He was born May 24, 1947 Michael Patrick French in Pittsburg, Texas the son of Harrison Morton and Vivian Earl (Dickson) French. Mike was of the Methodist faith and a self employed Master Plumber. He served his country during Vietnam in the United States Army. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Florence Newman French of Mount Pleasant, Texas; son, James French of Longview, Texas; daughters, Patricia and her husband Kenneth Attaway of Pittsburg, Texas and Alicia and her husband Chris Jones of Mount Pleasant, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Mary Crystal McGuyre, Courtnie & Nathan Edgar, Raven Attaway, Celsie Williams, Kara Brewer, Becca Tadeyeske, Christopher Tadeyeske, Sabrina Attaway; 3 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Aleigha, and Addy McGuyre; brothers, H.M. “Sonny” and his wife Leona French of New Boston, Texas, Wayne and his wife Barbara French of Hooks, Texas, and Jerome French of Pittsburg, Texas; sisters, Vicki Sullivan of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Kathleen French of Flatonia, Texas; brothers-in-law, Leroy and his wife Carol Newman of Center, Texas, James and his wife Susan of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Junior Newman of New Braunsfels, Texas; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Leroy of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Carolyn Newman of Gladewater, Texas, Marlene Morris, and Marie Scott both of Odessa, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Teresa Perren; brothers, Billy Gene and William Henry “Hank” French; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Imer D. Newman. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel. Interment will follow at the East New Hope Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.
