Michal Dar-El In central Israel, festive activity was particularly busy in Holon, which hosted its annual massive Purim parade, as well as Herzliya and Raanana, where costume parades were planned. The Holon celebrations were scheduled to start at noon with a South American-style carnival that included a huge audio-visual display and live performances by 4,500 dancers, musical groups, bands, street theater troupes, acrobats, and pyrotechnics. Petach Tikva held its first Purim carnival, featuring a costume parade with dancers, street theater, stilt artists, and plenty of other attractions. After several days of heavy rain, Sunday dawned bright and clear. Meteorologist Nahum Malik reported that Monday was expected to be partly cloudy with scattered showers expected to roll in overnight, after the holiday.
