Michelle just made a circular motion with her whole head. It was weird. When I asked her what she was doing she replied, I was just rolling my eyes so hard that momentum took over and swept my noggin up in it. Go Newton! Yeah, I know. I was thinking the same thing -- shes an odd one. To put it in context, it came directly on the heels of one of my sweeter moments. Here is what happened. We are each sitting in our respective chairs. She was watching a Love Boat rerun. I was seated quietly, behaving myself. Reflecting. Thinking up ways to be a better husband (if such an aspiration is even possible, but at this point, we do not know). Finally, I pull the trigger and break the silence. Me: I just want you to know that I forgive you. Mich (completely devoid of gratitude or appreciation): Huh? Shh...here comes Gopher...OK, now, what was that? Me (becoming impatient): I SAID, I just wanted you to know that I forgive you. (I mean, lets face it, what greater gift is there than forgiveness) Mich: Can you pause the show? .. OK, now, what is this? You forgive me? For what? Me: For, you know, whatever. I mean, as I have gotten older, I know that I have lost a step or two. There is no way I can keep up with someone who is as wily as you are. Im sure you have slipped at least a few shenanigans past the goalie. It is a safe bet that I am being magnanimous by giving you preemptive forgiveness. That is when she rolled her head around. Not even a thank you. To be honest, Im a little pissed at her.
