Michigan State Trooper slips into waders and ventures onto the frozen lake to rescue blind deaf dog - His legs were solid lumps of snow and ice, but Harvey, the 18-year-old Bichon Frise, was well – and above water. Calling the events absolutely amazing, it is a wonder the dog survived at all, Harveys owner, Tamara Creffield, said, gushing about the heroics of Michigan State Police Trooper Steven Moore. Trooper Moore, embarrassed by her flattery, rescued the dog Friday afternoon from Pond Lily Lake - He donned waders Creffield had and walked across the frozen water, avoiding any significant breaks or falls. He fetched Harvey and carried him back to shore. I am warm and dry and the dog is safe, said Moore, aided on land by Jackson County Sheriffs Deputy Cory Caroffino. Creffield declared Moore her hero, noted the way the setting sun creating a glow around his head and marveled at how a police officer was willing to brave the elements and save an old dog. The service was fantastic, said Creffields husband, David, who was impressed the police were willing to take such action.
