Microsoft App-a-thon held at Independent University, Bangladesh Update: 29 October 2013 Microsoft Bangladesh, in partnership with Microsoft Student Partners (MSP) at IUB hosted a daylong application development event (Campus App-a-thon) on Saturday on Bashundhara campus, says a press release. A total of 45 participants were present and 73 were submitted. Microsoft software evangelist Tanzim Saqib from Microsoft, Bangladesh and MSP from other universities and interns from Microsoft were present to provide technical support for the event. Describing the theme of the event, Tanzim Saqib said, “For this Windows Phone App-a-thon we have come up with a beautiful theme: 1971. We love the concept of retaining country’s history digitally through every channel available at our disposal”. Dr Ali Shihab Sabbir, dean of School of Engineering & Computer Science (SECS), along with other faculty and staff from Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and CITS were present. First prize for the event is the latest Nokia Lumia 820 and second prize being Nokia Lumia 620, both running the latest Windows Phone 8 OS. There will be an elaborate prize giving ceremony on the December 15. This event consolidated the Microsoft and IUB’s academic partnership that started through DreamSpark to provide IUB students with the latest Microsoft development tools for free. CUET admission tests November 9 CHITTAGONG, OCT 28: The admission tests for the honours course Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) will be held on November 9. CUET authorities have published the eligible candidates list for its honours course admission tests on Sunday. According to the sources, the applicants those who are carrying minimum grade point 19 in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English are selected to sit for admission tests. The admission notice issued by CUET authority informed that a total number of eligible candidates is 6909 for group KA (Engineering subjects) and 883 for group KHA (Architecture and Urban Planning). Details information of the admission tests available at the university website- cuet.ac.bd/admission.php. Mentionable, total 10,873 applicants applied to sit for the admission tests.
