Micura Ajegunle Begs Keshi Organizers of the maiden Micura Soccer Championship at Navy Barracks Playground, Boundary-Ajegunle, Lagos, Micura Services Limited have appealed to Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi to witness their ongoing tournament and pick more talented stars for Nigeria ahead of Brazil 2014 World Cup. Sponsor of the 16-team championship that began on Monday, Mike Ubogu said the competition, tagged “Kick Your Way to Europe,” will be a marvel to Keshi and bigwigs of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), considering the high level of talents on parade. He noted that, aside providing opportunities for players getting invited to the national team in the nearest future, a technical committee has been set up to pick at least four super-talented ones for trials with top European clubs in the next transfer window. Speaking at Monday’s opening ceremony, Ubogu insisted that Ajegunle remains the home of young football talents in Nigeria, after the emergence of the like of Samson Siasia, Emmanuel Amuneke, Gabriel Okolosi, Ifeanyi Udeze, Monday Odiaka and many others years back. The sports-loving Micura Services boss, who confirmed this Saturday, September 14 for the competition’s final, hinted that the winner after the knockout series will pocket N100,000; while the second and third placed teams will grab N75,000 and N50,000 respectively. Meanwhile, chief organizer, Pastor Benjamin applauded Ubogu for his youth football development efforts and promised a fair championship, while also appealing to players and officials of all 16 registered clubs to cooperate with the organizers and sponsor.
