Mid-20th Century Modern is the unifying architectural design theme - TopicsExpress

Mid-20th Century Modern is the unifying architectural design theme in the Palm Springs area. The once sleepy, one-light desert village experienced explosive growth after WWII ended and the Hollywood TV-and-movie colony and big name entertainers adopted it as a weekend getaway locale. Some of names that became synonymous with Palm Springs are Doris Day, Gene Autrey, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack (Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Sammy Davis, Jr.), John Wayne, Jerry Lewis and Dinah Shore. Ex-presidents Gerald Ford and Dwight D. Eisenhower had retirement homes here, as did TV Guide founder and the former US Ambassador to the Court of St. James, Walter Annenburg. Pop culture icons Sony and Cher were notable residents in the 60s and 70s . Heres a nice example of Atomic Age hotel architecture right around the corner from my house.
