ISSUED BY MetService AT 8:47 am 08-Jun-2013 Burst of heavy rain for Nelson and also Mt Taranaki from Saturday evening to Sunday morning. A trough is expected to move across central New Zealand Saturday night and Sunday morning, preceded by a moist northerly flow. In a 12-15 hour period from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, 80-130mm of rain is likely to accumulate in the ranges of Nelson, while 50-80mm could accumulate at lower levels. During the same period, 100-120mm of rain is likely on Mount Taranaki. People are advised that the heavy rain could cause rivers and streams to rise rapidly, surface flooding and slips, and make driving hazardous.
