Mija had a good day today. She started with PT today. She was put it the standing frame. While she was standing, the therapist gave her three small wooden shapes. The therapist asked her for one of the shapes and told her to give it to her. She had a difficult time doing this. She stood for 40 minutes in the standing frame. In OT, estim was started on her left arm. Her left hand was placed on a hand skateboard. The therapist moved her hand on the skateboard around the table. He then put her right hand on top of the other one and assisted her in moving them around the table. Mija and the occupational therapist played thumb war and arm wrestled with Mija winning both. She was then given a bowl with wooden shapes in it and given a wooden spoon. The therapist asked her to try to scoop up a block and dump it into his hand. She did well. The last activity was hand writing. The therapist asked her to draw straight lines, circles and ms. After practicing each several times, he asked her to draw a line, then a circle and finally a m. Mija was able to do it without assist. In speech, the therapist worked on relaxing her throat, neck and jaw muscles. She worked on opening and closing her mouth. Mija was given spoonfuls of lemonade. She tried a straw but was not ready to use it yet. Shawn s mother, sister and two of her sisters boys will be with Mija this weekend.
