Mike Newman isn’t your average blind guy. You see, Mike has a tendency of breaking speed records (In a good way). Back in September 2013, Mike broke the blind speed record in a Porsche 911 GT2, clocking 186 mph (299 km/h). After the Porsche attempt, he then sets the record for the blind water speed record, taking a Silverline boat till 90 mph ( 144 kmh). Mike Newman, wasn’t born blind, as he lost his eyesight at eight, due to glaucoma. Before he lost his sight, Mike described himself as “car-mad”. “Listening to a powerful engine — there is no better music in the world,” he said. So recently, Mike found his way to Elvington Airport together with a Nissan GT-R. Guinness World Record was present to validate and authenticate that Mike had clocked 200.9 mph (323 kmh), making him the holder for the record of the fastest blind man. Watch the video of Mike Newman breaking the record below. Personally, I’ve never broken the 200 mph barrier before, and I could only imagine how unnerving it may be. What more, for Mike’s case, it will be even more unnerving, considering he can’t see a thing. Very impressive indeed, Mike.
