Mike Pohl August 29 at 10:22pm FILM: BLUE ANGELS in BEMIDJI, 1968. When I was a wee lad in the summer of 1968 the Blue Angels came to my home town of Bemidji, MN. I remember mostly bits and pieces of the show. But here now is the whole thing, filmed by Bemidjian and world traveler, Ralph Smith on his 8mm motion picture camera. I just had this roll of celluloid converted to digital. Almost 30 years to the day after The Blues were in Bemidji, during the summer of 1998, I became friends with former Blue Angels Pilot (and fellow Minnesotan) Rick Adams. Turns out Rick was a Blue Angel in 1968 and was here in Bemidji that weekend! He even remembers going down to the waterfront where The Team was fed a walleye supper prepared by the Bemidji Fish Fry Crew. Imagine, two legendary teams in once place!
