Mikes Training Blog (Sunday) Well after a 4 hour drive on Saturday I decided to rest up and try to energise the legs for this mornings 2hr 30 min. I got out early today....just before 5:30am, so I could avoid the heat of the sun. The legs were feeling a bit a bit better and I felt the effort level was good. Seeing the sunrise was pretty awesome today and while the early morning temp was about 14 deg it started to rise quickly after the sun got up. The first hour up and over Pukekohe hill was several minutes up on previous runs and this trend continued through the remainder of the morning. After around 2 hours my legs felt tired which wasnt surprising given the week of hills and tempo runs but I tried to keep the effort level steady. In the end I was very happy with the distance I covered today....well ahead of expectations and pretty exciting given the stage of the schedule and even more so when I consider the few hills I ran early on. Im looking forward to getting out having a 60 min recovery run tomorrow and then back into hill reps on Tuesday. 6 weeks to Buller Marathon.....
