Mikes dear, sweet mom is sooo confused today. She doesnt seem able to comprehend that moving out of Ohio day is THIS Thursday. She talks about an activity that will occur on September 1st . . . No, mom, you wont be living here then. To move to senior housing at 88 yrs of age (with a house filled with 39 yrs of collecting!) is way too much . . . too many decisions, too many good-byes, too much physical activity, too many boxes, too many late nights, too much!!! Lesson learned, downsize while you are physically able. Its waayyy too big a task at 88 . . . . especially when moving out of state. When we arrived today, she told us that the first two calls she made this week were to her mortician & the cemetery where her headstone is already in place in Ohio. :-( There are a million things running through her mind . . . address changes, utility disconnects, canceling future appointments already made, stopping the newspaper, forwarding her mail. And, oh, how she wishes that an apartment would be available NOW so she wouldnt have to move twice!!! I am so glad that I am here to do some of the social working while Mike continues to race with time boxing books, music boxes, linens, dishes, tools, Christmas deco, etc. Today I sorted through pictures with her . . . 26 beautiful scrapbooks from 26 trips abroad, family photos, etc. My heart is really heavy for her.
