Miles to go before we sleep My #prayer for us today….”Father, today I am thinking of time. It is the most rare and precious of commodities. Money can be replaced, even relationships, if need be. Health can be worked on, but time on this earth is time. It is finite. Sometimes, my God, we look at the words ‘miles to go before I sleep’ and think they represent that there is no rest for us. I do not believe that is what they mean. Lord, your word tells us to take a day of rest, in that day we are to redeem the time with refreshing our bodies, renewing our spirits and nurturing our relationships. But your word also speaks to being wise like an ant, and I believe that’s what these words represent. An ant isn’t slothful . An ant redeems the time. It stores up in summer, and in harvest it works. Father, today, as I lift up my friend and I with this prayer, I ask that you would help redeem the time for being productive like an ant does. Let us realize that we can sleep when we’re old, we can sleep should we ever be sick, and we can rest with you throughout eternity. While here, and entrusted with the work you have given to us, let us realize it is an honor and a responsibility to be awake. Regarding our work, let us be wholly focused on producing when it is time for producing. Let us be wholly focused on storing, budgeting and being wise with our resources just like the ant. Your word says the ant is wise. Let us be so. We so need to redeem the time, for it is a gift. We need to never forsake our loved ones and our time of personal reflection, and we need to also realize that the time we are given for production is to be redeemed as well. We have many promises to keep, and miles to go before we sleep. Let us be ants today Lord. Amen.” (Proverbs 6:6)
