Milford Haven’s ‘£20,000’ give-away July has now become recognised nationally as ‘Independent Retailer’s Month’, and is a campaign to show the importance of supporting your privately owned local businesses, which in turn massively supports the local economy. The Milford Haven Business Circle has embraced the idea and is pleased to announce its plans to participate this month, with a new promotion and a competition to engage with customers, old and new. Participating stores are giving away ‘Bank of Milford Haven Business Circle pound notes’ to customers for each £10 they spend right throughout the month of July, but check in-store for any exclusions that might apply. The ‘notes’ can then be spent with the issuing business during September, so the more you spend in July, the more you will have to spend later in the year. With up to 20,000 notes up for grabs, it’s a great time to see what is on offer in your local high street. Business Circle Chair, Lynne Turner, has said that the rise in membership numbers and fantastic willingness to help with the regeneration of the town centre has motivated the group to play a part in the 2013 drive. ‘This is the biggest promotion we have run,’ she commented, ‘and it would be great to see lots of local people taking advantage of what’s on offer. The independent businesses in Milford Haven are a major employer and contribute a huge amount into the area. We have had a few new shops opening of late, and it would be wonderful to see people coming back into the high street again, not purely to shop, but also to use it as a social meeting place. This increased footfall would in turn, hopefully encourage further new ventures to invest in our area.’ Look out for businesses displaying a poster and shop locally to have a share in this superb ‘£20,000’ give-away.
