Militarization of election is not and can never be a democratic - TopicsExpress

Militarization of election is not and can never be a democratic practice, doubt if 1979, 1993 and 1999 polls conducted by military led administrations were heavily policed as experienced recently in the Fountain of Rice and now in the State of Osun, I equally wondered if our government has the capacity to provide as many security operatives we have seen in State of Osun in all our states in 2015 elections, afterall if in their wisdom believed this is the best method, they must repeat such jaundiced approach in 2015, we wont want them resorts to excuse because such wont be tenable. The FG/PDP merely intends rigging the psychology of our people, unlike our brethren up North, the Southeners especially the Westeners to a large extent exhibit cowardice, our people will never risk their lives not even on electoral matters, the FG strategists must hath capitalized on this natural weakness of our people, this is no doubt a strenght to the Poverty Diseased Party, the government even appoint oga Jelili and Koro as political security cordinators/arrowheads to perpetrate thier fraudulent rigging act, maybe to technically abate suspicion amongst our people of their criminalized agenda, let assume these two gangsters are not Yorubas, I believed many might hath see reasons to kick against a plan aimed at threating our people emotionally during polls, I have a feeling that the duo are basically recruited to thwart free and fair polls in Ekiti and State of Osun, obviously their contractual assignment end soon, I expect an official resignation from one and the fate of other I cannot say. Woring of mask is another condemnable dimension of the security operatives, do we assume they are the true haramist? Can we trust them? This is another layer of threat added to the Ekiti strategem, maybe they must hath been informed that with proper political enlightenment that the APC has actually done, our people are no more scared of their guns, it is even on record Omisore bodyguard was cited woring mask during his guguru mekunus fraternity campaigns, that must be the government rehearsal strategy, obviously these people are up to a game plan, wearing mask and same time holding guns can only succeeds intimidating teeming electorates, it is utterly wrong, undemocratic and tyrannical to say the least. The accompained political thinking will be this, since the cancerous PDP members are aware that the security operatives are their accomplice, it serves as a morale booster to them trooping out, the die hard APC members who has got no other choice than to ensure victory of its candidate will have to come out in large numbers too, for the third non partisan category whose voting pattern normally should ensure success to the best candidate, they are frightened leaving their house comfort zone because they have no special interest, technically barring them from exercizing a franchise, their unused ballot is an advantage to the government who in collaboration with the security personnels, party agents, INEC staffs et al thumbprint it for the government preffered choiced candidate. Head or tail, our grossly irresponsible government gains militarizing our election, I do no believe this should be constitutional in the first instance, electoral fraud can never be institutionalized than this, in saner clime, this height of corruption is enough ground to revolt against the retrogressive government, but here pitifully, our people encourage corruption and are blindfolded to fairness, equity and justice related matters as long as it serve our sentimental self oriented interest. The campaign for e-voting should rather kick start without delay, it will save government huge cost financing election(only God knows how much has been wasted on election since 2011 till date), reduce electorate bribery, forestall intimidation of our people emotionally during elections, encourage many self acclaimed educated folks to participating in voting exercise, by default reduce multiple voting, put a stop to electoral judicial waste of funds and time to mention but a few. Im equally of the believe that e-voting has the potency of producing credible and competent leadership for our beloved jungle, Nigeria. Olutosin Buhari Arile
