Military and civilian families with children enrolled in Duval - TopicsExpress

Military and civilian families with children enrolled in Duval County Public Schools have an opportunity to make a difference in the amount of Federal Impact Aid received by the school system. On Wednesday, 22 January, a DCPS representative will be available at the NAS Jacksonville Navy Exchange to assist with completing the Impact Aid form. The Impact Aid table will be located in the Navy Exchange courtyard from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Federal Impact Aid provides assistance to local school districts which have concentrations of children with parents in the uniformed services or employed on eligible Federal properties who do not live on Federal property. Impact Aid payments are distributed directly to the school districts, who use this financial assistance to cover a wide variety of expenses, including the salaries of teachers and teacher aides; the purchase of textbooks, computers, and other equipment; after-school programs and remedial tutoring; advanced placement classes; and special enrichment programs. School districts are required to conduct the Impact Aid survey to determine the number of eligible students so that the district can apply for this federal funding. Impact Aid forms were sent home with Duval County students in December to be completed and returned to the school. January 24, 2014 is the Duvals deadline for receiving the Impact Aid forms. Filling out this simple form is the crucial first step in making sure that the children of military and government service employees are accurately counted so that Duval County Public Schools receive their full entitlement of Impact Aid. If they have not already done so, parents are encouraged to stop by the Exchange and complete this forms on January 22. Each form completed makes a difference.
