Milo Update: So little Milo is a sick little fellow. He is indeed anemic (has a low red blood cell count), his albumin (protein) is low (this general happens with severe inflammation, starvation, fluid loss, etc), his other proteins are super high (globulins), indicating that he does have severe inflammation, but we cannot rule out some cancers that cause this. He is FIV positive. We have to be concerned with his immune system and suppression which is why he cannot fight his horrible cold. We also have to worry about his bone marrow, and ability to regenerate red blood cells. At this time, we cannot predict which way he will go - get better, stay the same until he cannot fight any more, or maybe he has been deteriorating.... time will tell. That said, Julie, his foster mom, is willing to give him time to see if he gets better! We will recheck some blood levels in a couple of weeks to see if there is any change. She will continue to watch his appetite, and breathing. This little guy is not currently adoptable, and anesthesia to remove his teeth and neuter him is too risky right now. But he will get love, warmth and free meals until we can do something more =)
