Min Khaing Traders estimate kharif black mapte output to fall 25% to 9.25 lakh tonne in the year to June 2014. Crop output may fall sharply in the key producing states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra due to damage resulting from excessive rains, they said.The three states account for around 40% of black mapte output of the country, ministry of agriculture data show. There is 50-75% crop damage in Jabalpur, Sagar, Indore, Gwalior and Bhopal divisions of Madhya Pradesh due to heavy rainfall, said Rahul Vohra, an Indore-based trader. These areas account for around 70% of Madhya Pradeshs 2011-12 urad output of 148,000 tonne, government data show.In Uttar Pradesh, black mapte output may decline around 50% because of crop damage, said Aman Agrawal, a Jhansi-based trader. Maximum damage took place in the states Bundelkhand region that produces over 50% output of the state, he said. Traders expect output lower of black matpe in Maharashtra also because to lower acreage, said Anil Chandak, proprietor of Latur-based Mansi Trader. Maharashtas area under black matpe declined 18% in thekharif season of 2013-14.
