Acland Dance Studio @Tufnell Park (ZeroHour). Please use the rear entrance by Churchill Road This Autumn Mina and Giraldo are celebrating 20 years of tango dancing. Their tango journey started in their hometown Colombia moving to London in 1994 and visiting Buenos Aires on a regular basis for the past 16 years. Mina and Giraldo were fortunate to have experienced tango in Argentina in the late 90s under the wing of renown tango milongueros: Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Carlos Gavito, Puppy Costello, Raúl Bravo, Carlos y Rosita Pérez. They have also trained intensively with the very best exponents of the tango’s rebirth age: Osvaldo Zotto and Lorena Hermocida, Guillermina Quiroga, Roberto Reis, Graciela Gonzalez, Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Roberto Herrera, Natalia and Gabriel, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa amongst many others. More about Mina and Giraldo trajectory here: Tango Foundations is Mina and Giraldo’s new course designed in self contained sessions comprising all the ‘basic’ tango vocabulary, its embrace possibilities (open-close), musical context (slow to fast orquestas) and social dance navigation skills. (dancing in the ronda) The aim of these block of progressive sessions is to raise the level of each student’s tango knowledge and confidence. Alongside a solid grounding in the understanding of tango fundamentals and its core elements, we aim to provide the social and musical context to these principles. Our extensive experience tell us how important is to have solid foundations, we challenge the view that tango beginners courses can be done on a ‘fast track’ or weekend intensive. On the contrary it should be the most detailed and well structured course that you could possible take if you have decided to take tango as a regular hobby or practice.
