Mind Tip for a Better Life: Morning Rituals that Work Now that you’re sleeping better (note my earlier post), let’s look at how you can make the morning better… Remember that the subconscious mind is wide open an absorbing even when you might not be as sharp as you are after your first coffee, so be aware of what you say to yourself (and the day) as you wake up. What DO you want for the day? Outline and imagine your ‘perfect’ day moving from one event or situation to another, feeling the way you’d like to feel – your subconscious is not only enjoying it, but learning as well. Remember something you ‘should’ have done yesterday? Instead of the dread that many people feel about that, thank your mind for reminding you again and give yourself a bit of compassion for having forgotten – now and again we goof up, but it’s the lessons that we take from those flubs that support and guide us to greater things. Expressing gratitude for the many things and people you have in your life is a great positive way to start. I think of the people I love and feel honoured for having them in my life. This often puts a positive spin on many of the ‘have tos’ in our daily life. These few moments that you spend setting up your day mentally and emotionally are as valuable as writing a list may help to guide you through items to remember. It is a wonderful habit of self-care, that has the reinforcing effect that you are valuable and are worthy of taking good care of yourself. You really are.
