Mindanao Ko, Gandahan Ko Jaima Mauntol As an ecology center, Mindanao State University has been an advocate with colleges of Forestry, Environmental Studies, peace and development sprung in various campuses. Solid Waste Management (SWM) was urged to be integrated in the planning and execution , extension to communities. After reaching the Market, Local Government Unit of Marawi, Task Force Units such as PNP and AFP, Public Schools, some private entities, now Mindanao State University-main campus is the main partner and target. The Marawi ESWM Board believes that through the influence of Education sector like MSU, the objectives and campaign of SWM will be stronger and more effective, for said university can do better in the spreading of the Message that will affect Marawi and the province of Lanao Del Sur generally, and has a great capacity to play a role in influencing its constituents. This may be because it is one of the most prestigious and highly respected universities in the Philippines. In line with that, MSU has already given their blessing in launching the SWM in its scope through the Botanical Association and peacekeeping forces. The Physical Plant Division has conveyed its support and accordingly, they are willing to contribute and cooperatewith ESWM program . They have been giving their support and contribution to this kind of mandate. They are even willing to give copies of a thesis made by excellent students of College of Engineering that verily talked everything about SWM, which accordingly painful but true. ESWM TWG urged entities to propose ESWM programs to the National Power Corporation which accordingly couldgive funds for the launching of ESWM facilities as part of its watershed protection mandate . MSU has always been the tourist spot of Lanao Del Sur but sadly, constituents have to cooperate in the proper disposal of garbage. Garbage is always seen everywhere. So the Botanical Society, PPD , SWM Taskforces are trying their best to reconstruct the beauty of MSU through first cleaning every area and advocating the proper disposal of garbage. Indeed, this is not an easy task, for SWM is a very serious and sensitive issue. SWM board believes that in order for this to work effectively, public information shall be the basic requirement and tool for Mayors Executive Order and City Ordinance to be implemented. The public must be informed. The city ordinance shall be posted to every focal area which people will obviously see and in order for them not to complain for penalty shall be imposed since it is in the law. Accordingly, the very main problem of garbage disposal is where to dispose the garbage. There is no area to properly dispose the garbage since there is no space left for this matter. MSU has been fully occupied by private houses, cottages and establishments. It came to the point that garbage collection went into a contract with a private contractor, but the problem again was no proper time of throwing. Garbage has always been the problem of the world in a climate of sporadic disasters. The MSU stakeholders have conveyed their aspirations and sentiments . Problem with the garbage shall be solved if both private individuals and MSU shall cooperate and work together for this issue. The latter cannot just urge its endeavor and provide the needs of its constituents if the former shall not cooperate with. No matter how efficient MSU is, it still won’t work without the cooperation of every individual.
