Mindful Perspective I have lost count in the last few months the - TopicsExpress

Mindful Perspective I have lost count in the last few months the amount of times I have had discussions regarding perspective. Living and working within tough economic times appears to have made many people become more insular thinking about me alone. This has caused focus to narrow and increased emotional reactions to situation. This I have witnessed has caused increase in frustration and stress both in the workplace and in life generally. I also have thought about perspective when reading blogs and social media articles where it is all too easy to get entrenched in our own view and therefore not being open to others thoughts and points of view. This can be very true for people who want to see big changes in social, economic and environmental welfare. We look at where we are at point A and see Z but not always the singular small steps to achieve as a leap of faith is unlikely to happen. For the people we hope to teach may well find Z scary yet if we just look from A to B more likely to get them to take the first step. Put it this way to safely climb a ladder we need to take each rung at a time and likewise our approach to change. So how can we gain mindful perspective? • Step back from the emotion so the view is less gun sight and more panorama • Build knowledge so we act with facts and not hope • Look for areas we can act positively and let go of what we cannot control • Consider what 5 things are good right now so we can build from a positive perspective • Seek the common ground in development with other people not the differences • Consider the singular steps not the leap of faith
