The Opportunity We are looking for a Mine Surveyor to be responsible for survey control for all mining operations across the Weipa site. Rio Tinto Alcans Weipa mine is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. Over the years, Weipa has developed into a vibrant and diverse cultural hub of the Western Cape. What the role entails This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Surveyor with practical exposure to large scale open pit mine operations. Working a 44Hr Day Work (Mon-Fri) 5 on 2 off roster and reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will be: •Providing of Survey Control for clearing, stripping and mining activities •Providing Survey Control for haul road design and construction and road re-sheeting •Reporting with respect to monthly surveys of overburden removal and production •Providing volumes for contractor payment •Co-ordinating product stockpile reconciliations What you will need for this role To succeed in this role, you will have: •Degree or Diploma qualification in Surveying •Practical experience in large open pit mine surveying •Demonstrated experience with Survey equipment and machine guidance systems •Exposure to mine design software So if you are looking for a new challenge, great location and an exceptional team of technical experts, apply now.
