Mini movie review time! A really good movie called Joe came out last week simultaneously on DVD, limit theatrical release, and on demand. It stars Nickolas Cage and the boy from Mud, Tie Sheridan. Cage shows us how good of an actor he can be with the right script. Sheridan has only two other movies under his belt so far, but he is one to watch out for. What a fantastic young dramatic actor. The other supporting actors were very impressive too, especially the boys drunk father, played by an unknown named Gary Paulter. This was his first movie, and sadly, Paulter died shortly after filming the movie. As for the story, it is a character study that really kept my interest. It was dark and pretty interesting, and the action is shocking and exciting. Make sure if you see it on DVD you take a look at the special features. Its 83% on Rotten Tomatoes right now.
