Mini rant for those of you in the medical field: 1) Dont ignore your patients 2) Treat them with common courtesy and respect. I had a nurse today, who smelled like smoke, ignore me when I said hello as she entered the room and kept her back to me throughout most of the encounter. Later she threw a drape on the bed and said I could get undressed while walking out of the room with no further directions (thank goodness I knew what to do), she opened the door before knocking and asking if I was ready (which I was actually standing and trying to get on the bed if that wasnt awkward enough), after I finally got dressed she came back to clean up and said I could go while not paying much more attention. I asked if there was anything else I needed to do You can leave. I said thank you and left. Point here, it was frustrating to be treated without any acknowledgement or courtesy. In the medical field you should treat your patients how you yourself would like to be treated. Just to get some eye contact, directions, and common courtesy would have been nice. Please dont forget that the little things in the room with a patient can make a huge difference no matter your role in patient care. And for everyone as patients, you dont have to put up with this either. Especially when the clinic claims to have the best patient care. I made a complaint, although I wish I could have told her myself what I thought of her behavior. Patiently, I did not however. So please keep this in mind.
