Minister Louis Farrakhan #FarrakhanFridays (Question via Facebook Inbox) Question: What is it that your followers are doing improperly that makes people to think that they are worshiping you? Because I’m not in The Nation of Islam—and I don’t see it that way; but a lot of my friends believe that they worship you. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan: If you’re a boxer, and you come in contact with Muhammad Ali, in the prime of his life; and you recognize you’re in the presence of one greater than you: You bow in submission. If you’re a basketball player, and you come in the presence of Michael Jordan, and you cannot equal him, you bow! That’s the nature of us as human beings: To bow to one who is greater than ourselves. But worship belongs only to Him Who created us all. It is unfortunate that some followers, whether they follow Jesus, or Moses, or Muhammad; or Dr. King, or Brother Malcolm—or Louis Farrakhan, or Elijah Muhammad—become worshipers, rather than followers. Jesus never told us to worship him; he said, “Come and follow me in the worship of The One God”; so did all the prophets. So that error or mistake is part of a human condition that all of us, ultimately, outgrow.
