Minister of State for Education, Trainings and Standards in Higher Education, Baleegh-ur-Rehman presided over a briefing session regarding Academy of Educational Planning and Management (AEPAM) here today. The Briefing was attended by Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Secretary, Ministry of Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education and senior officers of the Ministry and AEPAM. A Presentation was given by Mr. Azhar Hussain Shamim, Director General, AEPAM. During the briefing, the Vision, Mission and Future Plans of AEPAM were mentioned as well as the functions of AEPAM that is basically doing capacity building of Education Managers of the four provinces and four regions i.e. GB, AJK, FATA and ICT. The DG, AEPAM briefed the Minister about the role and functions of the National Educational Management Information System (NEMIS) i.e. consolidating and compiling Educational Statistics. He highlighted the achievements made by NEMIS especially relating to capacity building, publications of Annual Statistical Reports and development of Pakistan Education Atlas 2012. He told that the staffing position, budget and institutional weaknesses and problems of AEPAM. He mentioned that AEPAM is working on the National Plan of Action for Accelerated MDGs and this will be finalized very soon. The Minister appreciated the efforts made by AEPAM for doing capacity building and carrying out Education for All (EFA) activities. He desired that the National Plan of Action for MDGs Accelerated Frame work (MAF) be presented within a week. The Minister admired the role of AEPAM and directed that it should be an apex training institution at the national level and should have the state of the art facilities.
