Minister welcomes new full-time dermatologist Health and Wellness Dr. Catherine Boivin will be moving to Prince Edward Island and will complete the physician complement in dermatology, says Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie. “I am pleased to announce that Dr. Boivin will begin practice in January 2015 as a full-time dermatologist,” says Minister of Health and Wellness, Hon. Doug Currie. “She will be relocating from Quebec where she is completing her residency training at Laval University.” “I am very grateful for this exciting opportunity of starting my dermatology practice in such a wonderful community as Charlottetown. Our family greatly appreciates the warm welcome and hospitality that Health PEI, especially the Health Recruitment and Retention department, and the community have offered us, and I look forward to working in collaboration with the health teams in place in providing dermatological care for Islanders,” says Dr. Boivin. Health PEI has been actively recruiting to fulfill the requirement for a provincial dermatology service. In addition to Dr. Boivin’s practice, supplemental services will be provided by five Island physicians who have additional GP dermatology education and training: Dr. Trina Stewart, Dr. Frank Estey, Dr. Alfred Morais, Dr. Carl Freidrich and Dr. D.I. Stewart. Dr. Boivin will begin seeing patients January 12, 2015. Consultation requests will be accepted the week before at the Parkdale Medical Centre. Phone and fax numbers for referrals will be announced at a later date by Health PEI.
