Minnie misses out on something she would not have liked. Last - TopicsExpress

Minnie misses out on something she would not have liked. Last night as we were wrapping up Minnies bedtime walk, she charged into a corner of the yard and started barking enthusiastically at something. From her body language, I could tell that the something was immediately on the other side of the fence. She seemed to be having a good time, head up and tail wagging, and with the fence between her and whatever-it-was, she couldnt get in any trouble. Probably a stray dog (a small one, since I couldnt see it). I decided to go check it out. I got a flashlight and came right up to the fence and peered through it. At first I saw nothing. Then I finally caught a glimpse of fur. Deep black and bright white. SKUNK! I beat a hasty retreat and called Minnie over. Shes not great on come, partly because shes part basenji and basenjis are difficult to train, and partly because Julie an I arent great trainers. But thankfully, Minnie came right away and we went into the house and I shut the door behind me. Hooray! In other critter news: Before that happened, while I was getting ready to take Minnie out, I heard Sammy batting something around on the kitchen counter. Then I heard it hit the floor. Whatever-it-was made a noisy clatter. I went into the kitchen and didnt see anything out of place. So I forgot about it. This morning, when I came in the kitchen I saw a small glass jar on the floor, on the spot where Sammy had been playing last night. Thankfully, the jar was not broken. The jar contains the special dental treats that Sammy gets daily, which he loves.
