Minor rant. Jamie and I drove to the accountants today to sign off on the income tax forms. We file jointly, and my name has always been on top, at first because I was the one who did the taxes, and later because Im still the one who does all the totting up of various expenses before we hand it over to the accountants. Theres usually one math person in a marriage, which id fine with both of us. The woman at that office could not, for the longest time, be brought to understand that I should not sign under spouse. She kept pointing to the line I should sign (Spouse) even after I indicated my name on the top of the form. She directed Jamie to sign the wrong line on the other form. WTF? She was perfectly nice, but I felt as if I were being treated to a classic demo of gender stereotyping. Really, accountant office person? In the 21st century? Really?
