Minsters Musings: Christmas Blessings What a wonderful concert - TopicsExpress

Minsters Musings: Christmas Blessings What a wonderful concert this past Sunday! It really was a blessing for me to sit with our church family and listen to beautiful Christmas music. I trust you felt the same, because Ive heard many appreciative comments regarding the evening. From the choir, to the soloists, to the narration, to the treats afterwards, it really was an inspiring evening of music and fellowship. I want to thank the Creekwood Choir and the Handbells for their investment of time and passion. It was great to see so many smiling faces enjoying themselves sharing music from their hearts. Thanks, as well, to Gabe Edwards, our new Music Director, for crafting the concert experience with theological integrity, and to Heather Parks, our faithful accompanist and soloist. We are blessed by their combined leadership. Thanks to all our soloists and instrumentalists, especially the Cook girls, Kaitlyn and Kelsey, for grace, courage and beauty singing and playing. I am looking forward to the blessing of sharing Christmas Eve as a church family. We have three wonderful services planned - 4:00, 8:00 and 11:00 p.m. We have tried to create space between the first two services for families to enjoy Christmas Eve dinner together. Each service will include a retelling of the biblical Christmas story through scripture, narration, and song, while ending with communion and candlelight. The three services will move from expectation to exaltation to illumination. The 4:00 p.m. service will be our family service. This interactive service is perfect for families with kids of all ages. The 8:00 p.m. service will feature a traditional arrangement of Lessons and Carols based on the original format from Kings College in Cambridge. The 11:00 p.m. is our homecoming service. Families and friends are invited to reunite for a relaxed modern interpretation of the same Lessons and Carols. As always, each service will include communion and the sharing of the light by candlelight. I hope you will join us for this fitting conclusion to our Sky Full of Stars series as we celebrate the fulfillment of Gods promise in Christ Jesus our Savior. Christmas Blessings, Jeff Howell
