Minus all the geo-political dramatics, SodaStream is a great product: its healthier for the environment and the body! Durable reusable bottles are used to carbonate the drinks (no waste of disposable PET bottles), syrups are low fructose (for regular flavours) and aspartame free (for diet flavours). Its just a shame that SodaStream Singapore marks and jacks up the price sky high here: I bought a starter kit for €69 (includes a CO2 tank, the carbonating unit, 2 x 1L bottles, 2 x 500ml bottles, 2 flavoured syrups). At that price, it would not have even covered an entry-level carbonating unit at the local shops!
