Minute details. Good design is made in the detail, however putting yourself in the consumer’s shoes in order to produce an informed design is important. It’s often the small details that can make a big difference. Design Process is about making simple choices to establish theme and context, giving balance to products finish. B&O have a long history for making high class consumer speakers with sleek and simple style, this model is my house mates and is made from a combination of rubberised matte plastic, leather and some kind of brushed alloy which makes up the outer shell, a healthy weight minimises any excess vibrations caused by the cone, improving sound quality. Smooth edges are fitted with precise accuracy. Although set into the speaker, the grill is nice and chunky (Nothing like what you would find on a cheaper portable speaker) although it does go for £600 so you wouldn’t expect anything less. The buttons are on the top, designed for simple functionality; volume, on/off and a wireless button. The object is full repeated curves and lines Identifying a simple visual theme. The buttons are touch sensitive and do not require you to push. This is good as it means they practically vanish when the device is switched off. However is annoying for anyone one whos never used the speaker takes a few seconds to power up, so you can be found repeatedly tapping the On button when really all your doing is turning the thing on and off again without actually giving it the chance to power on! (This has happened with multiple times). The object is full of repeated curves on the corners and top taking on a simple form. the strap made from leather is offset on one side making it easier to carry and is also fitted nicely round the shape when set down.
