Mir urges upon people to work for development of J&K: GA Mir 20/082014 ANANTNAG, Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir has called upon masses to join the gigantic effort of steering Jammu and Kashmir to lasting peace and massive development, saying Government has achieved concrete results and taken the State towards growth and affluence with a sense of commitment. Addressing series of public meetings today at Pathallan Ringmodu, Khadar and Hingipora in Dooru, Mir said rural masses have to play a larger role and extend cooperation in implementing various welfare schemes aimed at public good. He urged the people to take part in the democratic and all round developmental process initiated by the government across the State. “Time has come when they have to express their choice about the representatives whom they want to serve them in a better way”, he added. Referring to the developmental scenario, Mir said that Jammu and Kashmir has traversed a long way towards inclusive development of all the three regions of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. He said several revolutionary measures have been taken by the government to empower the people and satiate their political and economic aspirations. The Minister enumerated the measures initiated to combat corruption and for bringing transparency in the functioning of administration, in both physical and financial sectors. He said establishment of new administrative units is yet another achievement of the Government towards welfare and development of the people. He also referred to the benefits of Public Services Guarantee Act. Mir exhorted the people to benefit from various schemes launched under various innovative programmes for their economic emancipation. Referring to the development of Dooru Constituency, the Minister enumerated several measures taken for holistic development of the area. He said besides up gradation of infrastructure under core sectors, the varied tourism potential of the area received focused attention. The Minister urged the people to remain vigilant against the conspiracies of some vested interest persons, the main agenda of which is to polarize the situation and benefit from division in the society. He said their main plank during the ensuing elections will be to promote such an atmosphere. He appealed the people to remain united and frustrate their designs while maintaining age old tradition of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony. Later, the Minister took a meeting with local officers and reviewed physical and financial achievements registered under various sectors in the area. He directed the concerned executing agencies to pay special focus to completion of the projects and ensure the benefits of welfare Schemes to the deserved ones on priority.
