Miri tankers to increase water delivery to Niah MIRI: The Public Works Department (JKR) Miri will increase have the delivery of water to the over 1,000 people in Niah who have been facing water shortage since three months ago. The Divisional Engineer, Goh Soon Boon said for the SMK Suai in Niah, JKR will increase from the current four or five tankers daily. “We will try to increase the water supply to the affected people. For example to SMK Suai, usually we will send 4 – 5 tankers daily and if need be we will send more,” said Goh when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday to comment on why SMK Suai sometimes did not receive any water supply on some days. He was also asked to comment on Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development Rosey Yunus who urged JKR to look into the problems and expedite the commissioning of the new water treatment plant in the area. Goh said he would go to the ground today to find out the main causes of the water shortage. “Our reports showed that among the main causes of the low water pressure and why some taps are dry, was because of pipe burst and consequently some areas in higher ground have low water pressure. “As for the new treatment plant, we are still testing it and once everything is okay, we surely will commission the project to solve the water problem,” Goh assured.
