Addressing a gathering at historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz said that the meeting of leaders in New York providesthem with an opportunity to re-start the peace negotiations. He said wars andbloodshed were no solution ofissues since they have only brought sufferings and pain for Kashmiris and people of south Asia as a whole. He said that Kashmir and other issues can be solved through negotiations and by making sure the participation of resistance leadership across the border in that process. Mirwaiz said that Kashmir was being made economically dependent following a well orchestrated conspiracy and “we Kashmiris are unintentionally supporting thispolicy.” “In 1947 our state was fully self sufficient and even 30 years ago Jammu and Kashmirwas more or less self sufficient in all sectors. However, now J&K can only fulfil its 30 percent of its agricultural needs,” he added. Thosewho are claim to be preserving the heritage and culture are in in the fore-frontand were becoming party to damaging the very heritage and cultural site of Kashmir for an unnecessary musical event,” he alleged.
