Misery is the portion of the daft: the Igbo nation must not be - TopicsExpress

Misery is the portion of the daft: the Igbo nation must not be under the whims of the daft The essence of the quest for political leadership is to deliver appropriate development to the people. This is the case in an ideal society. It is irrelevant whether other factors are trending to obliterate the need for development. Even when religion and ethnicity are ingrained in the political equation, they are driven by the need to acquire developmental advantages over other contending interests. This axiom is true at all times except in a society where depraved, brain dead and politicians with stone aged ideologies are firmly in control. Fortunately enough, the Igbo race is one of the most progressive, interrogative, open minded and hardworking creation of God. Based on this, it is my considered opinion that the vast majority of Ndigbo must arise and tell the mercantile politicians that our race has never been and will not be a “Nappy” for the absorption or retention of political faeces. In 2011, the entire political class in Igbo land unanimously rallied around His Excellency, President Ebelemi Jonathan and delivered over 5m votes to him. That was understandable because of the novelty of the President’s candidacy at the time and the proximity of his region to south east. Promises were made to the Igbo people and the hopes were quite high. Unfortunately, what we have witnessed is a dream differed. Not even differed but a dream that turned into a nightmare and enhanced further enlargement of the gap between the south east and other zones in the country. The south eastern roads remained the worst in the entire country. While the President is working on the roads in other zones, the following in Igbo land are death traps: -Onitsha-Enugu expressway -Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway -Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene highway -Owerri-Aba highway -Owerri-umuahia highway -Owerri-Okigwe highway -Owerri-Port Harcourt expressway (south east end of the road) Beyond the issue of roads and highways, the administration failed to fulfill its promise of a second Niger bridge. A ground breaking ceremony was carried out, yet there is no visible work going on there. The annoying thing is that Igbos are at the forefront of an orchestration to persuade the people that the bridge has been delivered. The same applies to the sham they called international airport at Enugu. It is unimaginable that a zone that voted for an administration and imbued with huge potentials was not considered for the location of a power generation plant despite the blessing of abundant gas and coal resources. The Igbos are not “boy boy” of Nigeria politics and must not allow PDP to push them down that alley. The Igbos have the benefit of what good governance can achieve in Imo State. The APC government under Gov. Rochas Okorocha has given the people free education to university level, built roads, built 12 standard classroom blocks (upstairs) in over 350 communities under 4 years, built standard General Hospitals (a few are yet to be competed) in all the 27 local government areas within 4 years and paid the salaries of workers and pension till date. That is an example of good leadership and that is what APC can offer. The clear alternative is APC under the leadership of the incorruptible Buhari. Religion and ethnicity can only be beneficial if they are functioned on the provision of services and democratic dividends. We do not have different petrol stations, markets and public utilities for different religions and ethnic nationalities. We all face the same economic realities. The choice between good and bad is in your thumb. KJE at Large. By Kelechi Jeff Eme
