Miss Ava got another bath today! Also, she was able to take her first bottle. Her nurse said she did well, took about 7 ccs then forgot to breathe and bradyed. After she recovered she snuggled her back into her bed and gave her the rest of her food through her feeding tube. Ava seems to enjoy eating - she will just need to learn the suck, swallow and breathe thing. I am so thankful for a wonderful nursing staff that is willing to care for Ava in the way she needs. They are all so attentive and loving, watching for cues for Ava and helping support us breastfeeding and getting her home. I had many conversations with her nurses about starting bottles and we all feel confident Ava will be able to take a bottle as well as breastfeed, and hopefully transition to exclusively breastfeeding when we get home. I am so incredible thankful for the support of all her nurses!
