Miss me w the BS. Been out since Saturday night in Ferguson & watched how events unfolded, with the exception of a few hours. Just this morning, we witnessed, from start to finish, abuse of police power by Jennings Police on West Florissant this morning (In Ferguson) as they grabbed a young brother off the streets and tried to force him into their car as he yelled, What are the charges??? What are my rights??? He was kicked by one officer who tried forcing him in the car when a St Louis County officer pulled up & swiftly stopped them, HOLD ON. You cant DO that! Cars were stopped, people videoing. Beautiful! How dare you impart misinformation about how events unfolded & why. Even more for the people who were there and are misrepresenting the people in ways you wouldnt any other people (read Palestinians & Israelis, etc). You MUST have a block on history. The young people articulately addressed their elders and made it abundantly clear EARLY in the day that they want justice, uncomproming and unyielding, by any means necessary. They pleaded for guidance, NOT another MLK rally. They were largely peaceful ALL DAY. They organized in their own way & were aided by the Panthers to be constructive. They admitted the need for them to act on community violence, videod interactions w the police, created signs, continued chants, blocked streets off for economic impact all while grieving & dealing w their pent up anger. They know they have been & are failed by sideline critics, politicians, elders & so-called leaders. You COWARDS. There just werent enough experienced people out to diffuse them when they blew. Remember what thats like, elders? Late on the scene trying to add your two cents is too late! Had you been on post, been an advocate, gave a damn, did some training, just planned for the boiling point early on things wouldnt have escalated in the manner that they did. Being unwilling to engage cause you didnt know how or were afraid to doesnt absolve YOU of responsibility. I hear your rage about these businesses. Everybody has something to say about that. Wheres your rage about the conditions that cause THEIR rage, causes them to blow. What about the human costs? Where were YOU? Black power fist to our youth. Quit maligning them. They have something you dont - energy, determination & courage. I suggest you take this a teachable moment to impart some wisdom & help them focus - on their level - before things escalate further. Gave my son a bath for over an hour last night at a friends, while on lockdown, because he was drenched w pepper spray, even after falling to the ground, then teargassed for asserting the right to assemble. Thank you to the couple who came w gun & bat to the door & happily helped with milk for easing his pain and to his girlfriend who was affected as well but was able to help him to safety, to the older brother saw what happened & tried to help w a water hose. Peace in struggle, JUSTICE, light & love
