The Joy Of Motion, the new album from Animals as Leaders, sold around 13,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart. I think this album shows a different side of my guitar playing, Tosin Abasi adds, because heres actually less soloing. And for the solos that do occur, Im playing differently than I was. Theres way less shred, if Im going to be blunt about it, but I think its more lyrical. I started to get into modern gospel and neo-soul, listening to jazz-influenced R&B guitarists like Jairus Mozee and Isaiah Sharkey, and I think its kind of bled into my phrasing now.
