Missed yesterday so today its time for triple-joy. First heard of Pape Seck on the legendary, epic Dakar - Bamako two day train journey in 1993, which Simon McDonald and I joined at Tambacounda, following a night of total sleeplessness in Basse Santa Su at the far end of the Gambia. The most humid place I have ever been. A guy was playing an Africando cassette on the train. I might even have a photo of him somewhere. I spent several fruitless years hunting for Papseck before the day of enlightenment, the day I heard Africando at a now long forgotten party.
