Mission Statement Citizens for Healthy Established Neighborhoods Citizens for Healthy Established Neighborhoods (CHEN) is a local organization formed to support and protect the integrity of existing residential neighborhoods in the City of Durango. Our mission is to unite Durango’s residential neighborhoods and voice residents concerns to the attention of city leadership in the interest of maintaining quality neighborhoods. We advocate on behalf of those who live and work in Durango to sustain a sense of community and a year-round economy. The organization’s focus is the upcoming update to the Durango Land Use and Development Code (LUDC). CHEN is especially concerned about the physical, environmental, infrastructure and privacy impacts of the proposed increased density in residential neighborhoods as a result of the allowance of alley dwelling units (ADUs) and the increased congestion on residential streets that will result from the proposed easing of parking requirements in the city. Anyone concerned with these issues vital to our community is invited to join our organization.
