Mission Waco/Mission Worlds goal is not only to empower the poor and marginalized, but to mobilize middle class folks to understand the issues of poverty, care for them, and engage with dignity those who struggle in their local communities. Yesterday I had the privilege to speak 4300 students at Baylors Chapel to welcome them to the Waco community with the intent of getting them off the campus into the lives of others through our ministry and other non-profits and local churches. The link above is a brief email I received last week after a new Baylor freshman attended Church Under the Bridge for the first time. Her response, like many others who have rarely engaged with the poor, is profound. I hope you will take time to read it. Baylor students make a huge difference in Waco.
