Missions: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Missions - TopicsExpress

Missions: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Missions Committee. We are so blessed to be a part of a loving and giving church and once again you have answered the call. During the past few weeks our church family has collected 227 boxes of gifts to send around the world to help children know that God loves them. We recently heard Pastor Pete Davidson of the City Mission tell of their ministries and needs and we were able to deliver many items to the Mission to help with their outreach to the homeless. We did not count the items however, the church trailer was about half full with your donations. As we have for many years before Christmas we will have given out food baskets to 30 families in our community who have a need with helping to feed their family. Along with the non-perishable food that you have brought in we will also give the families a turkey, butter, bread, eggs, and potatoes. In continuing to remember our children from our backpack ministry we had 63 childrens names on our Angel Tree, each of those children will receive gifts and food for Christmas. We are so thankful for our church family and the way you continue to share Gods love with our community and the world. New Missionary support This year we will be supporting a new missionary with our monetary support, J. D. and Rhonda Reed were commissioned for service in Bolivia at their home church in July of 2011. They are currently serving in partnership with the Union Bautista Bolivian and live in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Their primary focus is aiding in the development of leadership in the areas of theology, mentoring pastors and helping to develop new ministry opportunities in the southern part of Bolivia. Rhonda is also volunteering as a school nurse at their childrens mission school and assisting with short-term volunteer medical teams. The Reeds ask that we pray for the School of Leaders project, God to continue to provide leaders as they develop this ministry, for Rhonda as she explores other health-related ministries, and the ministries of the Bolivian Baptist Union as they continually emerge in Southern Bolivia.
