Mitch Salmon Our relationship with God is much like our relationship with our earthly fathers. There are two primary positions that professing followers of Christ take with Him. The first is that of a rebellious teenager. For these God is nothing more than a cosmic killjoy. His word stands as a barrier between them and all the things their selfish hearts desire. While they may submit, it is done begrudgingly and they are consumed in their minds with all the things they are missing out on. The second position is that of a small child. These too receive God’s word but their perspective is different than that of the teenager. While the teenager rages, rebels and even sees God as old fashioned and outdated, the child lives with peace and contentment. It is not because God’s word to them is any different but because they trust their Daddy and know that He wants what is best for them. They may not know or understand all the things of this world but it is more than made up for by the fact that they do know Creator of it all and have chosen to trust and abide in His word. So, while both may obey, only the child is blessed because they see His protection formed around them, not a barrier separating them from all their heart’s desire. Has your teenaged heart wandered far away from home? I have good news for you. Set your steps towards your Daddy. He’ll take you back! youtube/watch?v=9qGXOVPw4uU
